Temperament: Tenacious. Once he’s somewhere, he’s somewhere. We mean this sincerely.

Good with other residents: Yes — he’s easy about it.

Requirements: A spot you’re sure about. Also: he suits corners and small walls that other residents overwhelm.

Hook: “He would not let go of the piling.”

Getting Grippy off that piling at Amelia Island took considerably longer than it should have. He had a position and he held it. He is tenacious, easy-going about everything else, and he is the resident we recommend for the small awkward wall that nothing else fits — the bit beside a door, the space above a light switch. He’ll take it and he’ll stay.
