Stingray - GLIDER
Intake: May 11, 2026
Found: Assateague Island, Maryland — flat in wet sand, mistaken for something living.
Condition on arrival: Good.
Temperament: Still. Watchful. Says very little and misses nothing.
Light: Moderate to low. He’s striking in a darker room, which is unusual here.
Attention: Very low. Possibly the most independent resident we have.
Good with children: Yes.
Good with other residents: Prefers his own wall.
Requirements: A wide, clear space — he needs room either side of him to read properly.
Hook: “A birdwatcher reported him. As wildlife.”
A birdwatcher on Assateague radioed in a sighting and we came out to find Glider lying flat in the wet sand, doing an extremely convincing impression of something alive. He is still, watchful and almost entirely self-sufficient. He needs width — clear wall on both sides — and he is one of the very few residents who looks better in a darker room than a bright one.
