Shell - SHELLY
Intake: February 9, 2026
Found: Sanibel Island, Florida — in plain sight, on the shell beach, for possibly years.
Condition on arrival: Good. Extremely well camouflaged.
Temperament: Modest to a fault. Genuinely does not seek attention.
Light: Any.
Attention: Low.
Good with children: Yes.
Good with other residents: Yes — she’s a good neighbour to a louder one.
Requirements: A plain wall. She disappears against anything patterned, and that’s the whole problem.
Hook: “On the shell beach. For possibly years. In plain sight.”
Shelly was on Sanibel — the shell beach, the one people fly in for — sitting in plain view among several million shells, and there is no way of knowing how long she’d been there. Same beach as Blinker, four months apart, and the two of them could not be less alike. She is modest to a fault, has no interest whatsoever in attention, and has been overlooked here for exactly that reason. Hang her against a plain wall. Put her on anything patterned and you will lose her all over again.
