Fish - BLU
Intake: November 20, 2025
Found: Cannon Beach, Oregon — at the base of Haystack Rock, in heavy fog.
Condition on arrival: Good.
Temperament: Sociable. Very well liked. Says things.
Light: Soft, cool light — he looks best on an overcast day, which is fitting for someone from Oregon.
Attention: Moderate.
Good with children: Yes, with supervision, and we mean supervision of Blu.
Good with other residents: Extremely popular with them, which we think has gone to his head.
Requirements: A room with adults in it. Possibly not the room where your mother sits.
Hook: “Everyone here likes Blu. Nobody here can take him anywhere.”
We nearly walked past Blu — the fog at Cannon Beach was thick enough that morning that he was more of a shape than a fish. He has been making up for the quiet entrance ever since.
He is the most popular resident in this building. Every other fish likes him. He is warm, he is quick, and he is generous with his attention. He is also, roughly every fourth thing he says, appalling — and he knows exactly what he is doing, because he waits for the room to go quiet first.
We have spoken to him about it. He was very apologetic and then did it again within the hour. If your household enjoys that sort of thing he will be the best fish you ever adopt. If it doesn’t, we’d gently point you toward Kai.
